Most of the 2025 and 2026 entries are mattresses and bumpers, and most were sold on Amazon. Padded crib bumpers are banned under the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, which is why many of these notices say "Violates Federal Crib Bumper Ban."

The biggest by far is the Criblike notice (recall 26-069, November 2025), at about 117,900 mattresses. It covers aftermarket play yard and mini-crib mattresses that may not fit the product they're used in, and CPSC says the gaps that leaves are an entrapment hazard.

How do I check my crib and mattress?

Start with the label, then look at the crib itself. These checks come from CPSC's crib safety tips and the federal labeling rule.

  • Find the label: Federal rules require cribs and other durable infant products to be permanently marked with the maker's name and U.S. contact information, the model name or number, and the month and year of manufacture, in a spot you can see (16 CFR 1130.4). In the South Shore recall, the model number is on an adhesive label on one end of the crib. KEAWIS mattresses have it on a label sewn on the side.
  • Mattress fit: firm and tight-fitting, so a baby can't get trapped between the mattress and the crib.
  • Hardware: no missing, loose, broken or badly installed screws, brackets or other hardware.
  • Slats: no more than 2 3/8 inches apart (about the width of a soda can), and none missing or cracked.
  • Bare is best: only a fitted sheet made for cribs. No pillows, quilts, comforters or bumpers.

Some padded bumpers carry no label at all. CPSC says the Haoyunm and AliExpress bumpers in the table had no markings, so don't wait for a model number to take a padded bumper out of the crib.

What should I do if my crib is recalled?

  1. Stop using it unless the official notice says otherwise.
  2. Read the remedy on the notice: it says whether you get a refund, repair or replacement and who to contact.
  3. Contact the company listed on the notice, not a third party.
  4. Follow the notice's proof step. Several recent notices, including Criblike, Modera and South Shore, ask you to cut the mattress in half or take the crib apart and email a photo to get your refund.
  5. Keep your receipt or order record until the remedy is complete.

How do I choose a replacement?

Do the remedy on the notice first, then replace. CPSC says to use sleep products that meet federal requirements, so check the listing or label and search the CPSC recall list for the brand before you buy. If a mattress was recalled for fit, look for a crib mattress sized for your specific crib or play yard, and a fitted crib sheet made for it.

Frequently asked questions

Who recalls cribs?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posts crib recalls, and each notice names the company that handles the refund, repair or replacement. CPSC says to check its recall list at SaferProducts.gov and to sign up for recall notices at CPSC.gov.

How do I know if my crib has been recalled?

Find the label on the crib or mattress with the brand, the model name or number and the date of manufacture. Then search CPSC's recall list for that brand and compare the model number and sale dates with each notice.

Where is my crib's model number?

Federal rules require durable infant products such as cribs to be permanently marked with the manufacturer's name and U.S. contact information, the model name or number, and the month and year of manufacture (which can be in code), in English and in a spot that is conspicuous to the consumer (16 CFR 1130.4). The rule does not name an exact spot, so check the crib frame and the recall notice.

What do I do with a recalled crib mattress?

Stop using it and follow the remedy on the notice. In the recent Criblike, Modera and Voomf mattress recalls, the company gives a full refund after you cut the mattress up and email a photo of it.

Are padded crib bumpers legal?

No. CPSC says padded crib bumpers are banned under the Safe Sleep for Babies Act.

What should be in a baby's crib?

CPSC says bare is best: a firm, flat, tight-fitting mattress with only a fitted sheet, and no pillows, blankets or bumpers.
