Walmart Recalls: Current List and Return Process

Walmart Recalls: Where to Check and How Returns Work

Short answer: Walmart lists its recalls newest-first on its Product Recalls page, which covers items sold at Walmart stores, Walmart.com, Sam's Club and SamsClub.com, and links each entry to the manufacturer's or agency's official notice. Recalled items are taken back — Walmart's published policy for Marketplace sellers promises a refund regardless of the item's condition — but the exact remedy is set by the notice itself, so match your product first and read the notice second.

Where Walmart posts recalls

Walmart's recall page is the first stop because it is the only list organized by what Walmart sold. Each entry carries the date, the product name, the states or channels where it was sold, and a link to the underlying notice from the manufacturer, the FDA or the USDA FSIS:

FDA and USDA FSIS noticesFood, drinks and medicine; these name Walmart in the notice text, not on a "Sold at" lineFDA recalls, USDA FSIS

Reading the top of the page tells you what the format is doing. The newest entry when we checked (October 17, 2026) is Kayem Foods recalling meat and poultry products over possible temperature abuse, sold at select Walmart stores in eight northeastern states — Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. Entries just below it carry the expanded lot list for Great Value frozen organic berries and a Flowers Foods bread recall split between Walmart and Sam's Club stores in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Every entry works the same way: date first, then the product, then exactly where it was sold, then out to the full notice. If a product you own was sold at Walmart, the entry you need is almost always reachable from the first screen or two.

A few entries matter beyond the headline. When the fruit seller Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur expanded its recall, the Walmart page carried the updated lot list for Great Value frozen organic berries — the kind of private-label product where this page is the easiest way to confirm the specific bag in your freezer. Walmart's own Expert Grill brushes (over 4.4 million units) and the reannounced Mainstays nine-drawer fabric dressers also came through as Walmart-sold recalls in CPSC records.

How to check products you bought at Walmart

Notices identify products by codes, so the check is a matching exercise:

  1. Find what you bought. Your Walmart.com account's purchase history shows online orders with dates and item names. For in-store buys, the Walmart app can pull up past receipts if you paid with a card saved to your account.
  2. Match the codes, not the name. UPC, lot code, date range, or store list — the notice tells you exactly which fields matter. Keep the packaging until the match is confirmed.
  3. Food and formula have their own wrinkles. Food notices name stores in the text; a Sam's Club pack may carry a separate UPC from the Walmart one — the ByHeart infant formula recall, for example, listed a distinct UPC for the Sam's Club 2-pack. Our guide to checking any product you own shows where those codes sit on the package.

Does Walmart take back recalled items? The refund answer

Yes — and the rules are published in more than one place, depending on where the item came from.

Follow the notice first. Walmart's recall page sends you to the manufacturer's or agency's release, and each release carries its own remedy: some say to return the item to the store, others say to contact the company for a refund, a replacement or a repair kit. The notice's instructions are the ones that govern.

Marketplace purchases. Walmart's published returns policy for Marketplace sellers is unusually plain: recalled items are issued a refund regardless of purchase condition, with WIC and SNAP restrictions aside. Sellers must accept the return and may not discourage or delay it — Walmart reserves the right to refund the customer itself and charge the seller.

Sam's Club purchases. Sam's Club's official Product Recall FAQ says any club will assist with a recalled item — online purchases included — and that a receipt is not always necessary for recalled products. The club also reaches out on its own: its FAQ says it will make every effort to call, mail or email members about recalls affecting them, and may help the manufacturer contact buyers in federally regulated recalls. If you bought at Sam's Club, check your email and member account before assuming nobody told you.

What to keep. Hold on to the item, or at least photos of the model number and lot code, until you know what the notice asks for. Some remedies want the product back; others only need the code.

If a company won't honor it. Some remedies run through the manufacturer, not the store. Our recall refund guide explains each remedy type and what to do when a company stalls.

One boundary worth knowing: the Marketplace policy's WIC and SNAP exception means certain restricted purchases are handled under those programs' rules rather than the standard refund path. Everything else follows the notice.

Fake Walmart recall texts

Walmart says it does not send text messages about product recalls. It communicates through its official websites and direct email notifications. That policy is published on Sam's Club's official Product Recall FAQ as well, and Walmart has repeated it in statements to national press: scammers send messages falsely claiming to be recall notices in order to steal personal information.

If you get a text claiming a Walmart recall refund and asking you to tap a link or enter details, it is not Walmart. Screenshot the message and email it to [email protected]. Never enter payment or account details from a link in an unsolicited message — verify through your Walmart.com account or the official recall page instead. Amazon recall scams work the same way; see our Amazon recall guide.

For the rest of the picture: food recalls across every retailer, the full recall list, Costco recalls with its own refund rules, and how to check any product you own.

Frequently asked questions

Does Walmart take back recalled items?

Yes. Walmart's published returns policy for Marketplace sellers says recalled items are issued a refund regardless of purchase condition, with WIC and SNAP restrictions aside. Sam's Club says any club will assist with a recalled product and that a receipt is not always necessary. Follow the recall notice first — each one has its own remedy steps.

Where does Walmart post its recalls?

On its Product Recalls page at corporate.walmart.com/recalls, listed newest first. Each entry names the product, the date, which stores sold it (including Walmart.com, Sam's Club and SamsClub.com), and links to the manufacturer's or agency's official notice.

How do I check a product I bought at Walmart for a recall?

Find the item in your Walmart.com account's purchase history, or use the Walmart app's receipt lookup for in-store purchases. Match the UPC, lot code or date on your package against the recall notice — not just the product name — and follow the notice's instructions for the remedy.

Does Walmart send text messages about recalls?

No. Walmart says it does not send text messages about product recalls; it communicates through its official websites and direct email. A text claiming a Walmart recall refund is a scam — screenshot it and email it to [email protected].
